hmm, so i went home this weekend - again. i wouldnt go home this often, except there were things to do at home/in town/nearby these past 3 weekends! so, i went home and then visited caswell yesterday! it was so fun to see everyone and caswell and the sessions i went to were amazing! they were a little different, though - there were rappers with the band and i'm not quite sure what i think of them, especially since they sang a couple secular/popular songs now, it was a little strange - i'm not a big fan of rap that's popular now... but it's all good. part of my youth group went up and did a skit in front of everyone there - they did sooo well!!! it was amazing!! the first time i saw it, i cried, but luckily i've seen it several times now and can hold it in. haha. it's so much more meaningful when i know the people acting it out - here's the link for another group doing it, but ours was basically the same - just a few more people. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyheJ480LYA
i made it back here just in time for mr. grymes' (my clarinet teacher) performance with the orchestra - it was amazingggg!!! meredith and i had to practically run across campus to get there before it started, but we made it.
also, after several weeks and many unsuccessful attempts to get tickets for the dashboard confessional concert, i found out that they're finally going to go on sale tomorrow! they said they were going to start selling them on august 24th. tomorrow is... september 21st? almost a month! but, it'll be worth it. and the opening act is valencia, who, although i dont know them very well, sound like they're pretty good, too! exciting.
ok, that's about it, i suppose - nothing too exciting to speak of....

playing tourist....

this weekend was soo much fun!! on friday night after band practice and showering and packing, meredith, tucker, brenton, sarah, caitlin, and i all left for carolina beach - stopping at chickfila along the way!! oh, i miss you chickfila. meredith and i rode together in my car (meredith is my roommate, by the way) and we listened to please by ludo over and over and over again for probably half the drive - singing at the top of our lungs the whole time. we were both a little hoarse after that. that's our song, we decided.
when we were there, we stayed at tucker's family's condo right on the beach - it was really cool! and i kinda got to act like a tourist since everyone except me and tucker didnt live there - we took them to get trolly stop and britts and we went down to fort fisher and we went to the beach and pts and wrightsville at night - it was so much fun! we stayed up till a little after 4 both nights for no reason.... i'm worn out (especially after being up till 2 last night - oh, procrastination!).
after going down on the beach for a while we came back up and went in the pool and hot tub where a bunch of hoggard band people happened to be. i think they might contract an awful respiratory disease cause i was only in there for a little bit but the fumes from the pool and the hot tub made my nose and eyes sting real bad. i think there may have been too much chlorine? but anyways. i knew or recognized several people but only talked to one girl cause i didnt know if they knew me, too.
we took tons of pictures! haha - they were funny - i was posing for them and tried not to smile but it was really hard. i'll put some of them up after this, i think - actually, you probably already saw them because i feel lazy and they automatically start at the top and i dont feel like moving them... it was perfect weather, too!
oh, that night i took everyone (except caitlin who wasnt feeling well) over to wrightsville where we saw the sparkly water and wrote in the mailbox and i chased birds... haha. it was so pretty! but the bugs over by the mailbox were kind of annoying...
when we got back to the condo we baked cookies and watched quarentine and got scared by caitlin and edited pictures - it was a good night, but we were up late again - oh well. and the next morning, meredith and i went to church and she got to meet a bunch of people there and i got to see everyone again!
my trip to wilmington was definitely a good one - i think i like playing tourist.

i just thought i'd write...
well, i'm pretty bored right now so i felt like i would write something, but forgive me - i'm letting you know right now that this post probably won't be too interesting... i still havent decided what to write about...
maybe school?
so far, thursdays are probably my favorite days - i dont have marching band but i do have wind ensemble. also, i have sight singing rather than "basic musicianship," a class in which i have homework. but i guess a bad thing about thursdays is that i usually put off my homework from my wednesday class until thursday night... hmm, whoops... yeah, i still have to write two counterpoint songs in dorian mode and then listen to something cause we have a listening quiz tomorrow. i dont know what the quiz is gonna be like, though... hmm...
tuesdays are good, too, but sometimes (like this past tuesday and the tuesday before that) i have a class called general recital which only meets once a month. every music major in the whole school is supposed to cram into the recital hall for people to... give recitals, i suppose. the past two times have just been teachers talking to us, though.
the weather the past few days has been pretty much amazing! it's cloudy, yes, but it's in the 70s and even gets a little chilly at night!! it's so weird - it shouldnt be that comfortable outside yet, it's only barely september! i wasnt even hot at marching band last night. nice...
i wish.... that.... i dont even know. sometimes i wish i could read minds, just to know what people were thinking - especially about me. i bet i'd hate to know what some people thought, though... i'm sure there are a lot of people who have different feelings towards me than what they let me know...
i really like college (something that kind of surprised me) and i love the people i've met (well, most of them... haha) but i wish it hadnt spread me and all my old friends out so much... not necessarily spread out as in out of state, although some people are definitely out of state (cough, cough, michelle, cough, victoria) but even the people who are like, within 100 miles seem much further because i never see them. i miss you all!!! i hope i'll get to see as much of you as i can when we're back in town for labor day! if not then, then christmas, i guess... so far! i need to start my countdown!!
oh, and i have my first football game on saturday!! i'm so excited!! i love going to football games and i think this will be even better than high school (but i loved high school marching band, too!) beat app!!! go ecu!!!!

guess what??
so how about my favvvvorite band is coming to ecu in october!!! i'm so excited! i went to see them back in like... march and i thought they wouldnt be back in north carolina for a while, let alone my school's campus!! aaaand, tickets for students are only $10!!! at least, that's what i've heard. i hope it's true! a friend of mine is coming and i'm trying to recruit some more people, too. i think my roommate is gonna come, but it's ok if no one else comes - better seats for us! haha. also, if not all of my friends go, i can get one of them to buy a ticket for my friend that isnt a student at the student price which would be very helpful - haha. i dont know how much tickets are for people who arent students, though.... oh, it's dashboard confessional, by the way. can't wait. ohhh, and they're pretty much amazing in concert - even from nearly the back row. this time, we're sitting up front - as soon as the tickets go on sale i'm getting them. for real.

school...
So yesterday was my first day ever of college! unless you count band camp, but that's not really school. it was also my first day since last tuesday where i didnt have to do anything marching band related, which was kind of nice - i wasnt horribly gross after just a few hours. ah, it felt so good....
i'm in both wind ensemble and symphonic band, which is really cool because i love playing in ensembles!!! after only the first few notes in wind ensemble, i knew i was going to love that class - i have a hard time calling it a class though cause it's just so fun. it's mostly upperclassmen music majors so they sound amazing, even sight reading! i have a hard time saying "we" because it's still hard to believe that i get to be counted as part of that group. i'm so glad i can, though - i had to get my schedule changed around a little, but it worked out.
right after wind ensemble i had symphonic band, which was still good, but kind of a disappointment after wind ensemble. this class is mostly freshmen music majors, so, at least they're still music majors, but it's definitely not the same. and, 2 of the pieces i've played before - one of which i really like, so it's ok, but not too challenging. i like the other, too, but my part isnt that exciting. anddd, i wish the trumpets could learn to double tongue...
that morning i had my sight singing class - it was my first class and it started at 10, which is pretty nice. my first class is at 10 every day, but my roommate's is at 8 so i've been waking up then, anyway. but the class was really fun! i met some new people and we sat in a semi-circle and learned about each other. my teacher is really cool, too! i can't wait for that class tomorrow, except i still need to get that book! it's been on backorder... i should pick that up today in my break....
today i have theory at 10, calc III at 11, then a break from 1 until marching band at 4. during that break i hope to eat lunch, get that book that's been on backorder, make brownies wth meredith, and practice. i need to practice. i need to get in the habit of practicing a lot every day - my teacher says at least 2 hours on days with marching band, like today, and more on days with no marching band. that's gonna be hard for me.
yesterday meredith, nicole, joy, madeline, david, and i went to target and walmart - i drove. that's definitely an advantage of having a car on campus - we can go to the store fairly easily, it's just a matter of who'll fit in my car. i suggest you dont try to fit 6 college age kids in a 5 seater. someone's going to be in pain.

so long, so long...
ahhhh!!! so, today's my last day in wilmington and i can't believe it. i'm not old enough to go away - i dont think i'm an adult and i dont feel like a college student, either. i'm finally starting to get kind of excited about going, but i dont know how long it'll last. i think the first few days, maybe even weeks, will probably just feel like a really long band camp or something. is it really that time already? i wish that i could go back before any of my friends left and just kind of... pause. i dont want summer to be over already!
the past couple weeks have been pretty fun, though - i went to beach blast today with rebecca, hayley, kelsey, and lauren - it was fun! it was crowded!! ahh! parking was annoying. i parked in a lot right across the street and it was full and i felt like a vulture, just circling the parking lot... stupid people kept coming in and stealing my spot!! so finally i just waited at one when the people got in their car to leave and some girl came up looking like she was gonna try to take it! nuh uh!! that's my spot! i've been driving in circles for the past ten minutes and you're gonna try to take my spot?? no way!
i can't believe i'm gonna be in college now! i went to ashley's band camp a few times the past couple weeks - they sounded pretty good and it was nice not having to be in charge. i start band camp at ecu tomorrow - it should be interesting.... i'm sure it'll be realllly long. every day from 8:15-8:30.... (am-pm, that is) we do get to start later on sunday, though - 1:00. me and lindsey are hoping to find a church nearby that we can go to while we're in greenville, er, g-vegas as mr. adams calls it...
so, the next time i write, i'll have moved in already! and had at least one day of band camp under my belt, but probably more since i hardly ever write in this multiple days in a row.
well, goodbye...
